MILITIA.

Alterations and Additions.

1. The following will he substituted for paragrap February 253 added to the Regulations for the Militia, 1883 (Army Regulatione, Vol. VIII), by Clause 53, Army Circulars, 1885-

1890.

253. If during any mouth the number of Militis recruits undergoing instruction at a depôt amounts to 50 at an Infantry Regimental Depot, 50 at an Artillery Depot, or 20 st Depôts of Submarine Mining Militia, a Militia Subalteru may be called up to the depôt, and may be retained there for so long a time as his services may be required; provided that he shall not be retained beyond 30 days after the number of recruits ander instruction shall have fallen below the minimum above mentioned. Addi- tional Subalterns or Captains may also be called up to the depot, when necessary, upon similar conditiona- to those laid down in paragraphs 251 and 252.

2. The following will be added after paragraph 261 of the above-mentioned regulations:--

261a. If during any month the number of recruits undergoing instruction at the depôts of the Sub- marine Mining Militia amounts to 10, one serjeant and two corporals may be called up with their own consent to assist in the drilling of the recruits, and an additional corporal for every 10 or fraction of 10 recruits beyond 30; provided that they shall not be retained beyond 15 days after the number of recruits shall have fallen below the minimum mentioned.

3. The following will be added to paragraph 61024, as amended by Clansc 74, Army Circulars, 1885--

In Submarine Mining Militia, if drilled under paragraph 245

14. on dismissal to his home after 50 days' drill

at the depot.

12. on dismissal to his home after training with

his regiment.

17. 108. on dismissal to his home after preliminary

drill and training with his regiment.

ARMY RESERVE.

Regulations for the 1st Class Army Reserve.

1. Her Majesty has been graciously pleased by a Cl. 25. Warrant under Her Royal Sign Manual, dated 23rd February January 1886, to promulgate amended Regulations relat- ing to the men of the 1st Class Army Reserve.

2. Copies of the Warrant, and of the Regulations thereunto attached, will shortly be issued to Officers and others concerned.

3. Any alterations which may be necessary hereafter in these Regulations will be notified in Army Circulars and General Orders; and the Regulations, together with the Circulars subsequently issued, will be kept carefully noted up by Officers concerned. All paragraphs which may be cancelled will be ruled out in ink and the authority for the cancelling noted in the margin.

4. The following clauses of Army Circulars, so far as they relate to the 1st Class Army Reserve, are hereby eutirely cancelled or rendered obsolete:---
